Fans have been waiting ages for Activision to confirm rumors that it is remaking the original trio of Spyro the Dragon games from the bygone days of the first PlayStation. With news that the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is coming to Switch this summer, many believed that if the Spyro rumor turned out to be true, it would also head to Switch. Well, it’s time for some good news and bad news.
The good news? Spyro Reignited Trilogy is indeed a thing — you can watch the trailer below!
The bad news? It’s been announced for Xbox One and PlayStation 4… but not Switch.
Lame. Yet, there remains a glimmer of hope. The game’s developer, Toys For Bob, is being coy about whether or not the compilation is coming to Nintendo’s console, but a recent listing and subsequent delisting of Spyro Reignited Trilogy on the official UK Nintendo website might mean fans won’t miss out on the other half of Sony’s old duo of mascots.
The listing (including price details) popped up hours after the initial announcement of the game before being swiftly removed. Perhaps someone at Nintendo UK jumped the gun and wrongly assumed the game was coming to Switch? Or perhaps there’s an incoming announcement that precipitated the removal?
It’s impossible to say, but until we get an official time of death for Spyro Reignited Trilogy on Switch, we’re going to hold onto hope of the game’s release on the system!
