Today, Nintendo held their latest Nintendo Direct presentation, focused entirely on Splatoon 2. While the company offered a plethora of new details that should excite franchise fans, perhaps the most intriguing revelation is that the game’s first Splatfest is scheduled for July 15, a week before the game’s release!
Nintendo has held a number of Testfire demo sessions for both Splatoon titles, but this is the first time that a Splatfest has been held in conjunction with a demo period. It’s a brilliant move on Nintendo’s part. After all, Splatfests kept the first game alive, luring more casual players back with each competition. Switch owners that never got to experience Splatfests on Wii U will now get an opportunity to see the game at its most competitive.
