Sega has announced that Sonic Mania will be available on Switch and all other platforms on August 15 and will cost $19.99.
The game is a return to the traditional 2D Sonic gameplay and visual style of the original Sega Genesis/Megadrive era. It features all-new and re-imagined Zones and lets fans play as either Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, each with their own signature move.
A brand new nostalgia-inducing trailer was also released to celebrate the announcement:
While the standard edition of Sonic Mania is available to pre-order now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Switch owners will only be able to purchase digitally at launch. Meanwhile, the collector’s edition can be pre-ordered now and includes some pretty cool Sonic collectables.
