Despite the success of the latest Sonic the Hedgehog TV show, Sega’s iconic mascot hasn’t had it so easy in the realm of video games. Last year’s Sonic Boom for Wii U was a major disappointment, with the general consensus agreeing it was a sub-par game crippled by severe technical problems at launch. The 3DS take on the new cartoon spin-off wasn’t nearly as badly maligned, but it didn’t exactly reignite the once passionate fan base either.
Considering this recent history, plenty of gamers were likely tentative, if not skeptical, of the recently revealed Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice for 3DS. Regardless of your opinion on the game, there is some good, in a strange sort of way, news– it’s being delayed. Rarely do gamers enjoy having to wait for a game, but given last year’s console game’s desperate need for troubleshooting, it is good to see that Sega is giving the developers more time to make sure the game doesn’t meet the same, buggy fate.
We’ll get to see whether or not this time was used wisely when Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice hits store shelves in 2016.
