Fans of Samurai Shodown are in for one heck of a summer, as SNK has revealed that a special compilation of the series’ NeoGeo days is coming to consoles. Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection brings a whopping seven titles to Nintendo Switch, including the “elusive” Samurai Shodown V Perfect. Watch the announcement trailer, below:
So, which seven games will be part of this collection? Let’s go through them:
- Samurai Shodown
- Samurai Shodown II
- Samurai Shodown III
- Samurai Shodown IV: Amakusa’s Revenge
- Samurai Shodown V
- Samurai Shodown V Special
- Samurai Shodown V Perfect
Perfect is especially curious as it has never been released to the public before. It promises new narrative material and is lauded as the true, final NeoGeo game ever made.
Along with the games, there are the requisite screen filtering options for that authentic, old school feel, but there’s a lot more beyond. The museum mode will bring with it over 2,000 scanned documents and images, as well as video interviews with developers. Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection also boasts a music player with over 200 songs. Throw in English and Japanese versions of the games, as well as online play, and this is a Shodown enthusiast’s dream come true.
The collection launches on July 28 digitally with an amorphous summer release window for the physical edition. Will you be picking up Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection? Tell us in the comments and on social media!
