Square Enix recently reported that its going to overhaul how it will be making games following a recent financial briefing. The announcement from company president Takashi Kiryu is that they have come up with a new structure to effectively reduce outsourced developments while focusing on the increase of internal development and large-scale titles.
More details are to be announced in spring 2024 while the policy is set to begin in April. The announcement was confirmed following the analytical reports from the last nine months of financial results ending in December 2023. The net sales from its digital entertainment sector reported a decrease of 2.6 percent revenue since the prior fiscal year as the operating income decreased a whopping 20.7 percent.
