PlatinumGames, the mastermind behind titles like The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta, Astral Chain, and more, had said last week it would be making an announcement today, February 26. What that announcement might be was wholly a mystery… and in many ways, it still is! The esoteric Project G.G. has been revealed to the world— watch the trailer. below:
Project G.G.’s genre and platforms haven’t been disclosed, but what is known is that Platinum will be overseeing the entirety of its production and release, as opposed to working solely as a developer on the game. Director Hideki Kamiya goes into quite a bit of detail about the goals with Project G.G. and Platinum’s history developing games but not having 100% control over the IPs once they’re out in the wild. You can read his full comments by clicking the link at the bottom of this page.
Project G.G. has some serious keiju vibes going on, with a dash of tokusatsu (think Power Rangers) for good measure. It’s going to be excruciating waiting to see more, but if Astral Chain is any indication, Platinum is in a real groove right now from a creative standpoint, so the wait will (hopefully) be worth it.
