Although Nintendo is usually in attendance at Gamescom most years, as it was in 2023, it appears that it has chosen to skip this year’s show, according to a statement that was released by Nintendo to German gaming news site Games Wirtschaft.
For those that are unfamiliar with Gamescom, the show is an annual exhibition and trade show that is hosted yearly in the German city of Cologne. It is noted as the largest video game event in the world. For 2024, the event is currently scheduled to take place from August 21 to August 25.
Fans are still looking forward to seeing the next major console announcement from the company, whether that’s Switch 2 or something entirely different. Many fans have been hoping that an announcement might come from Gamescom 2024, but it looks like that will not be happening.
It is always a possibility that Nintendo has its own showcase to announce its next big thing. If we do find anything out about that next big thing, we’ll be sure to let you know.
