Live A Live is a 1994 Super Famicom title that RPG enthusiast in the West pined to see localized. Sadly, it never happened, despite finding new life in Japan via Wii U and 3DS Virtual Console rereleases. Now, after decades of waiting, Square Enix has finally decided to bring the game to fans outside of Japan starting on July 22:
Live A Live was directed by Takashi Tokita, who would go on to helm Chrono Trigger after wrapping up work on this game. Live A Live follows the stories of seven different protagonists, with players able to tackle each story in whichever order they please. Here’s the synopsis from Nintendo:
Previously unreleased outside of Japan, the RPG game LIVE A LIVE is releasing on the Nintendo Switch system in the HD-2D style! In the Twilight of Edo Japan, a shinobi undertakes a secret mission. Experience these tales in any order you choose – the adventure is yours to control.
