After nearly two decades of begging and pleading for a remake or rerelease, fans are finally getting their wish: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is finally returning in 2024 for Nintendo Switch. The beloved GameCube classic is back with a facelift that ratchets the visuals up to the next level. You can see it in glorious motion in this trailer:
This particular Paper Mario game carries a lot of clout as it’s widely considered to be the best in the series. Witty writing, excellent RPG gameplay, and a stunning visual aesthetic all coalesced into a singular experience that was rather defining for a generation of players. It’s not totally clear what changes await beyond the graphics (don’t dare tough the translation, Nintendo), but here’s a blurb about the game and what to expect:
