I remember being a teenager and, years after The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time had come out, being at my grandma’s house playing and discovering the hidden area behind Zora’s Domain where Jabu Jabu dwells. It was a surreal moment because I had been playing the game for years up to that point and couldn’t believe that after so much time and so many plathroughs, there were still secrets to discover. Now, the GameCube port of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask in The Legend of Zelda Collector’s Edition promotional disc has yielded something new, itself.
During gameplay, a combination of button presses and directional inputs will make a hidden credit screen appear. The trick can be pulled off at any point during regular play. The screen shows the names of the staffers who worked on bringing Majora’s Mask to GameCube. Here’s the sequence of presses:

While holding L + R + Z, input the following:
- D-pad Up
- D-pad Up
- D-pad Down
- D-pad Down
- D-pad Left
- D-pad Right
- D-pad Left
- D-pad Right
- X
- Y
- B
- A
- D-pad Up
- D-pad Left
- D-pad Down
- D-pad Right
- A
- Start
Once pressed, a static black screen with classic 8-bit font lists the names of the creators:
- Robert Champagne
- David Devaty
- Rory Johnston
- Stephen Lee
- Yoon Joon Lee
- Max Szlagor
Pretty neat, eh? It’s amazing what fans can discover on their own, and especially after such an extended period of time.
