Tetris 99 is kicking off its first Maximus Cup of 2025 later this week. Maximus Cup 45 will begin on February 13, 2025 and revolve around Donkey Kong Country Returns HD for its theme. Nintendo made the announcement via its official X account:

Although the post doesn’t say it explicitly, it seems safe to assume that those interested in the theme will have to earn 100 event points in order to permanently unlock it for use once the cup ends. Access to Tetris 99 hinges on having an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription, so be sure you’re good to go before Thursday.
