Disney Dreamlight Valley is a life-sim game featuring various characters from the company’s enormous portfolio of intellectual properties. It’s been available in early access form since September of 2o22 with the promise that it would transition to free-to-play once it officially launches. The time for that launch, December 5, is rapidly approaching and developer Gameloft has revealed that the plans for Dreamlight Valley to be free-to-play have been axed. Here’s the official announcement from the game’s website:
This choice ensures that Disney Dreamlight Valley will be able to continue delivering on a premium game experience for all players. It’s important to us that we maintain our promise to keep delivering free content updates that add new characters, realms, clothing, furniture, and more surprises to your Valley. Purchases requiring moonstones will remain optional, fair, and match the level of quality players have come to expect. Players will still be able to collect free Moonstones via Dream Snaps and Chests, or optionally choose to purchase them.
This is sure to be disappointing to those who were hoping to partake in the game without having to pay a flat entrance fee. Instead, Dreamlight Valley will be offered in a range of different bundles, all for set prices. For those who would like to learn more about the game’s upcoming A Rift in Time Expansion Pass, there’s going to be a special stream on November 1 at 10 AM PST.
