Digital Eclipse has finally announced the next documentary in their Gold Master Series coming in 2024. Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story, which will follow a series of 42 games on eight different platforms developed by Llamasoft and Jeff Minter.
The story will talk about the influential British game designer’s early career leading up to the release of Tempest 2000 on the Atari Jaguar. Other classical games that will be added into the documentary will include Matrix, Metagalactic Llamas Battle at the Edge of Time, Hellgate, Andes Attack, Sheep in Space, and Gridrunner, which recently became a Digital Eclipse-developed remaster.
Digital Eclipse will also use an interactive timeline feature in this second series, much similar to what was used from the first season with The Making of Karateka. Players will be able to follow Jeff Minter’s story in chronological order—viewing photos, design documents, interviews, and some historical artifacts. Viewers will also be allowed to interact and play with a few of the games.
