The coronavirus has been wreaking havoc with public health and safety in China, resulting in nearly 700 deaths up to this point. It’s been a very trying time for the country and has unsurprisingly had an impact on life as well as business. This includes Nintendo, which has its various consoles produced in China. The company had announced that the coronavirus situation is inciting a delay in production of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch that would cause disruptions of sales in Japan. As such, many assumed that this would extend to other countries, too, but Nintendo has come out to set the record straight with the following statement to Kotaku:

“We can confirm that the manufacturing of some Nintendo products for the Japanese market has been delayed due to the impact of 2019-nCoV coronavirus outbreak. Nintendo does not anticipate a significant impact on our broader global supply chain for systems and accessories at this time, and product sales in North America and Europe, including preorders, are not affected. We would like to express our concern and support for all those affected by the coronavirus during this challenging time.”

For now, it seems that preorders for the Animal Crossing Switch in North America and Europe will not be disrupted. If that changes, we’ll be sure to let everyone know.
