Ryo Nagamatsu announced on May 1 via his Twitter that he left Nintendo, effective April 30, 2023.

The composer and arranger was the sole composer for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Tri Force Heroes, Link’s Awakening on Switch, Wii Sports Resort and Nintendo Land. He also made contributions on games Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Mario Kart 8, and more.

Nagamatsu joined Nintendo back in 2006, and was first credited in Wii Music. He has left on good terms stating, “I will work a little wider and more directly to help those who need my help and to help the industry. Thank you all for your kind support! I look forward to serve you in the future!”

Surely Nagamatsu will remain in the industry and possibly will be willing to help Nintendo with a future release some day. Regardless, we are looking forward to his next composition!
