After 3 years since the Detective Pikachu film was first released in 2019, there has been reports that a sequel film is currently in “development”.
The last time we heard news about the potential film was back in 2021 when Detective Pikachu star Justin Smith had broken the news that a sequel film was scrapped and not likely to happen. Now recent sources according to a representative from Legendary Entertainment have announced that the second film is in “active development.”
Further details about the film and it’s plot line remain scarce. The 2019 film starring Ryan Reynolds’s (and based off the Nintendo 3DS adaptation) has not yet seen a sequel released. This development leaves the door open for many questions to be asked. Will the stars of the first film be returning for a continued adventure? What will be the storyline to a second Detective film? Is our beloved Ryan Reynolds returning to reprise his role as Tim Goodman’s father, Detective Pikachu, or both once again? Keep it tuned to Nintendojo and we’ll let you know once we learn more.
