Look, just because the 3DS eShop is dead doesn’t mean 3DS has gone the way of the dodo. Developer Squire, the studio helmed by William Kage, is keeping the console alive and kicking by updating his game Fragrant Story. Free DLC expansion Papaya’s Path is available now to anyone who has a copy of the game; simply update the game from the homepage and it will be yours.
If you’re wondering what Fragrant Story is all about, it’s a tactical RPG that came out in 2022. Papaya’s Path sees players taking on “regions plagued by dreadful overgrowth” to “restore light” to the lands with Princess Papaya. If you’re into physical cartridges (which you can pre-order here), Squire is going to be selling copies come January 2024. Here’s a look at what you get:
“These are the remaining carts produced in 2022, which had to be re-processed due to a supplier error. As such, they contain v1.0 of the game, and will need to be updated in order to enjoy the Papaya’s Path expansion. The standard edition physical box has been upgraded to include two full albums on CD and digital download. The collectors edition physical box has also been upgraded, and now has both albums as well as a second poster, and two extra tarot cards.”
If you’re onboard for Papaya’s Path expect 6-10 hours of new content, including story campaigns, cutscenes, challenge battles, and more.
