There are few success stories in the world of indie games quite like Shovel Knight. The game has earned a devoted following, and its titular star has appeared in a number of games since, including Yooka-Laylee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Soon, however, the character will return in a brand-new adventure: Shovel Knight Dig!
Announced during today’s Yacht Club Games presentation, the new title seems to put a stronger emphasis on Shovel Knight’s digging abilities. Co-developed by Nitrome, the title will debut new antagonists, including Drill Knight and Spore Knight. In the game, Shovel Knight will gain more treasure the further he digs, which will allow him to upgrade his equipment. Once more, Jake Kaufman will return on sound duties. Shovel Knight Dig will be playable at PAX West later this week!
In addition to the new game, Yacht Club Games revealed new details regarding Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. The game’s final two expansions, King of Cards and Shovel Knight Showdown, will be released in December. All of the game’s various expansions will appear on a physical release of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, set for release that same month, alongside the Plague Knight, King Knight, and Specter Knight Amiibo Three-pack. The figures will unlock new costumes and some tough new challenges.
