Switch is no stranger to excellent shoot ’em ups like Ikaruga, Tengai, Strikers 1945 II, and Blazing Star, to name a few. Well, make way for another as Shikhondo- Soul Eater looks like it’s gearing up to be the latest must-have bullet-hell game to come to the console. Check it out:

Shikhondo was developed by a Korean indie studio by the name of DeerFarm and is being published by Digerati. Like Tengai, rather than pilot a ship of some kind, players are instead cast as two humans, each with their own unique move sets. The game is already out on Steam, but this will mark its maiden voyage on console. Observe that there’s a handsome physical edition that can be preordered through Play Asia. You can get a glimpse of it, below:

Preorders for the physical edition can be found here, but note they’re not live just yet— check back on June 28. Sadly, neither the press release nor Play Asia listing describe what to expect from the physical edition, but the image seems to show off an oversized box and some other goodies. We’ll update as soon as we know for sure what’s in the thing! Note that there are two editions that can be purchased: the standard for $24.99 and the limited for $34.99.

Here’s a breakdown of the key features of the game itself, according to Digerati:

  • Five stages of intense bullet-hell action and hypnotic barrage patterns
  • Game modes include: Arcade, Hardcore, Boss Rush and Local Co-op
  • Fly close to enemy bullets to fill the Soul Gauge and unleash a super attack for high scores
  • Two playable characters, each with their own types of attack
  • Online leaderboards for high score glory
  • Demonic enemies and bosses inspired by Asian mythology
  • Stunning and intricate Oriental artwork

There’s no firm release date for Shikhondo just yet, but it’s expected to release Q4 of this year, so that puts it sometime around fall/winter. Again, we’ll let you know when the date goes final. Are you interested in Shikhondo? Tell us below and on social media!
