Shigeru Miyamoto is 70. Seven decades that feel like they’ve flown by for fans who have been following his work since the early ’80s when Miyamoto burst into the world of game design. From Donkey Kong to Super Mario Bros. to The Legend of Zelda, Miyamoto has spent his entire career defining and then redefining and then redefining again the world of video games. It isn’t an exaggeration to say that the video game industry wouldn’t be what it is today without the contributions of Miyamoto and Nintendo. Titles like Super Mario 64 helped to shape 3D game development for years to come and is still impactful to this day. That’s just one example of the many enormous shifts in game development to stem from Miyamoto’s inventive mind (with the help of his colleagues, of course).
Industry colleagues and fans have been marking the occasion all over social media. We here at Nintendojo would like to join in and say happy birthday, Miyamoto-san. You have inspired and continue to inspire so many with the work that you have produced. Thank you!
Happy Birthday Miyamoto-san!
