WayForward’s Shantae franchise has developed a strong and passionate fanbase over the years. Despite her humble beginnings on Game Boy Color, the character has managed to thrive over the last few years, across a number of platforms. The latest title in the series, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is currently the only title in the series available on Switch, but that will change in the very near future!
According to the Australian Nintendo eShop, Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will be available for download on March 20. The title is the third entry in the series, and we found it to be excellent when it initially released on 3DS. Given those origins, fans of Half-Genie Hero should expect a bit of a downgrade in the visual department, but the game’s charming 2D designs will likely still look great!
It should, of course, be noted that no release date for Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse has been confirmed for other territories. Given that Switch can access any territory’s eShop, however, fans should be able to pick up the game March 20, regardless.
