Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is headed to Nintendo Switch 2 on February 12, 2026. We’re big fans of the Yaukza series here (you can catch up with our reviews of Yakuza 0, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2 at these links), so one can only imagine the utter excitement pulsing through our veins as we await this fourth entry coming to Switch 2. SEGA is all too keen to indulge fans as the company recently aired a special Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties Direct broadcast highlighting the game and its expansion. First, you can watch the presentation right here:
Let’s get into what fans can expect when the game drops in a couple months. Here’s a synopsis of Kiwami 3:
The bustling streets of Okinawa and Tokyo come to life in stunning detail with reimagined combat taking brutal brawling action to the next level. Added scenes deliver more depth and emotion to the beloved story with new and enhanced side experiences that immerse you in the world like never before, and more.
And here’s Dark Ties:
Experience the brand-new tale of Yoshitaka Mine from Yakuza 3 in an included separate game. Having once led a successful startup company, he plunged himself into the dark world of the yakuza by choice after losing everything. Left with an empty heart, the pursuit to find true bonds drives him forward once again in a dramatic journey colored by exhilarating boxing-based combat, and a variety of engaging side experiences.
Two men will walk different paths that converge to shake the very foundations of fate.
There were two big standout from the broadcast that fans would be remiss to ignore. First is Bad Boy Dragon, a mode in Kiwami 3. Bad Boy Dragon is about Kiryu and his escapades with the Haisai Girls, a biker gang working to keep Okinawa safe. Kiryu can partake in Baddies Battles and fight with fellow gang members in large fights called Rumbles. Players can also take a more direct route and tackle enemy bases by jumping on a motorcycle. If that’s not enough, the members of the Haisai Girls are all customizable, so you can sit back and relax as you accessorize to your heart’s content.
Over in Dark Ties, players will instead have the opportunity to guide Mine through something called Hell’s Arena. There, Mine will confront enemies in a dangerous underground fight club to protect the Nishikiyama Family’s dealings. There are one-on-one brawls to partake in, or Survival Hell, where Mine and others take on a dungeon while being pursued by hunters. It’s a whole lot of content to experience in a game that seems quite stuffed. Not that we’re complaining—we’ll let you know what we think of it all when Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties launches early next year.
