Monster Hunter turns 20 this March. First debuting back in 2004 on PlayStation 2 with the eponymous Monster Hunter, the series has gone on to become one of Capcom’s perennial best sellers. In 2024, Capcom is planning some celebrations around the franchise, and the first glimpse of what’s to come came from this video shared by Capcom featuring series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto:

Although brief, the video does unveil a handful of notable details. First, the results of fan voting for the community’s favorite monsters will be shown off in March. The three most popular beasts will be immortalized in new artwork for the occasion. The website for the 20th anniversary has been updated, which you can visit here, and within it there’s a heartfelt message from the dev team, as well as a look at a new Alatreon figure and MSi Monster Hunter products.

Beyond all that? Well, surely Capcom has something else up its collective sleeve a bit more exciting than any of that. We do know that Monster Hunter Wilds is the next installment in the series, although up to this point there has been no official announcement of the game coming to Nintendo Switch—that certainly could change if and when Nintendo officially reveals its successor to Switch. In any event, we’ll be sure to keep you all posted on what’s up with Monster Hunter as we learn more.
