Much has been rumored about Nintendo’s upcoming Switch and the games that will launch alongside it next year, in March. One title to pop up recently is an RPG crossover featuring Mario characters and Ubisoft’s Rabbids. The rumor came from fairly reliable sources and Ubisoft has a history of supporting new Nintendo hardware with interesting titles, so it gained quite a bit of credence. Now, thanks to a recent video celebrating Ubisoft’s 30th anniversary, the rumor is looking more likely.

At around the 23 second mark of the video, the camera pans past several shelves showing off various Rabbid figures, three of which stand out. There are figurines of Mario, Luigi, and Toad shaped like Rabbids. Of course, there is a distinct possibility that this has nothing to do with an upcoming game and maybe are just nods to partnership between the companies. Then again, the timing and current rumor climate helps this raise a few eyebrows. Check out the video below for yourself:

Nintendo has stated its intent not to delve deeper into Switch and its games until January 2017, so its likely we won’t know anything for certain until then. In the meantime, expect the rumor mill to keep on looking for every little tidbit it can find.

Given the third party gripes that only Nintendo IP sells on their systems, the rumor was already pretty believable to me when I saw the rumor before this video came out. Now I’m 95% sure this is legitimately happening.

Unfortunately, though “Mario RPG” does pique my curiosity, those obnoxious minion creatures really turn me off. I’ll hold off until we see gameplay, but their presence is a big strike against the idea for me.
