With Nintendo expected to release information on the upcoming NX console in the coming months, it isn’t surprising to see various rumors surfacing about the system.
Liam Robertson, a contributor at Nintendo Life, recently tweeted that the online survey company GFK is currently running campaigns which include the Nintendo NX. This includes various information on the system’s supposed features, including 4K video streaming, 900p/60fps graphics, and achievements. A sensor bar will supposedly be included with the system and the survey describes a dual-hardware setup, with separate home and handheld systems.
The features certainly sound more advanced than the Wii U (as one would expect), but the lack of specific hardware information makes it difficult to speculate as to any potential capabilities. In any event, 4K streaming, 60fps, and achievements are much more in line with what we have come to expect from the developer’s rivals in the console market. This could be more in line with recent comments by Nintendo that it is intent on pursuing a new direction for itself in the next hardware cycle.
Indeed, Nintendo’s President, Tatsumi Kimishima, recently went so far as to say that the NX would be a completely different experience from Wii U.
Despite that, the inclusion of a sensor bar would indicate that Nintendo isn’t quite finished with the controllers or technology that it used in Wii and Wii U.
What do you think of this latest rumor? Is it the right direction for Nintendo to take, or do those features sound too similar to its competitors? Share your thoughts in the comments.

As long as NX doesn’t fall into the same usability traps as PS4, XBone, Android, and Windows, I think we’ll all be pretty happy.
You know what I mean. The constant and painful updates upon updates, the in-your-face crap you never asked for and don’t care about, the nonsensical artificial limitations, the general practice of getting in the way of the actual gaming that’s supposed to be happening.
I agree.
I do hope the next system is more 3rd party friendly.
It was easier when all you had to do was blow in the cartridge.
And yes, waiting for an hour to play a new game on PS4 while the system updates and then the game installs seriously derails the enjoyment.
