Alright, get your salt shakers ready, folks, as the rumor mill, it be a-churning. Word from The Wall Street Journal is that Nintendo is prepping an all-new version of its popular Switch console. The article, written by Takashi Mochizuki, alleges that Nintendo is hoping to maintain the roaring success of Switch since its launch in March of 2017. In order to do this, Mochizuki claims that the Kyoto-based company is planning to release a fresh iteration of the system with new technology packed in.
What that technology might ultimately be is still a mystery, however, as Nintendo is allegedly debating what features to add based on how much the console’s cost will increase as a result of these tweaks. One element of the unit that does seem to be a focus of these debates is centered around Switch’s touch screen. The WSJ article claims that Nintendo is considering putting a more advanced LCD screen in the system that would improve overall quality and help reduce its size.
How that will work given the way that the Joy-Con fit into the current model of Switch is anyone’s guess, but, well, that’s why these are rumors! What features would you want in a new Switch? Share with us in the comments and on social media!
