After years of rampant speculation and rumors, Nintendo finally pulled the curtain back on Switch 2 back in January of this year. While the reveal left a lot to the imagination, what is known is that Nintendo will be airing a special presentation on April 2 that will show off the console in more detail. This will presumably include Switch 2’s launch date, and if rumors are to be believed, there’s some evidence that the system will be coming to stores sooner rather than later.
According to a post on Famiboards, 380,000 units of Nintendo Switch 2 have already been shipped to North America as of this past January. What’s more, a further 41, 598 charge grips have also been shipped. Nintendo is allegedly looking to sell the console for somewhere in the neighborhood of $400 and is hoping to move between six and eight million units at launch. Nearly 400,000 units (and likely more in the months since then) would certainly be positioning Nintendo to do exactly that. Now the question remains as to when fans will finally be able to play the new handheld.
If you’re anxious to give it a whirl sooner, the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events will begin this April. If you weren’t lucky enough snag access, you might just have to wait until Switch 2 goes on sale at some point in the near future.
