Some internal problems at Toys for Bob have become public recently, with a Crash Bandicoot sequel taking the forefront. A recent video by DidYouKnowGaming documents many of the internal problems around Toys for Bob, mostly involving Activision Blizzard. The video linked below talks about problems within the company, including how Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time failed to live up to lofty expectations created by Spyro Reignited Trilogy. While Crash Bandicoot 4 was launching, Toys for Bob began conceptualizing a new main line installment for the series, only for it to be denied by Activision Blizzard. The video also details the lengthy development process for Crash Team Rumble, and how problems between the two companies led to the game’s launch. A timestamp is included for when Crash Bandicoot 5 is first mentioned.
The concept of Crash Bandicoot 5 seemed to focus on where Crash Bandicoot: Twinsanity left the original series of games, and focused on giving a slightly darker tone while going through more story related to the series’ villains. The game also planned on being a partial crossover with the Spyro series, with the characters officially meeting for the first time in a mainline game and helping each other put a stop to Uka-Uka’s plan. For more information, please watch the attached video above.
Toys for Bob has been in an uneasy state with Activision Blizzard for a while, with the subsidiary being given work on the Call of Duty series despite internal backlash. Recently, Toys for Bob decided to go independent of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard in March of this year. Will this lead to any more adventures of Crash and Spyro?
