Devolver Digital and HBO are bringing Reigns: Game of Thrones to Nintendo Switch later this week.
The game is a spinoff of the Reigns strategy game series and tasks players with claiming the Iron Throne and navigating the ins and outs and twists and turns of the complex, dangerous ties and relationships within the Seven Kingdoms.
Players can choose between Cersei Lannister, Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Sansa Stark, and other series favorites, and can unlock characters to face new challenges.
Taking a cue from online dating apps, the game features a swipe left/swipe right mechanic to act upon the pleas and demands of the people of Westeros. If a character becomes annoying and bothersome, you have the option of tearing their card in half — but at a cost. What cost? You’ll have to play to find out.
Melisandre’s visions extend beyond those from the TV show to imagine the many possible fates of those that would sit upon the Iron Throne. What path would the Seven Kingdoms have taken had Sansa Stark married Jamie Lannister?
Building out the fate of a kingdom is stressful work, so players can also blow off some steam with jousting or tavern brawls, though they aren’t without consequence.
