Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé has been keeping busy ever since his exit from the company. Between being named to the board of directors for GameStop and lecturing at Cornell University, Fils-Aimé has found time to be an avid Animal Crossing: New Horizons player as well as start his own new gaming podcast! It’s not just any podcast, however:
@haroldgoldberg and I are Talking Games in a new podcast. Donations will fund activities for underserved communities. One of the first guests: @geoffkeighley Join us! https://t.co/9DjakIFwqO

Fils-Aimé is partnering with award-winning author/journalist Harold Goldberg for Talking Games With Reggie And Harold. The podcast will be about gaming, but its true intent is to raise money for the New York Videogame Critics Circle non-profit. The group is “a non-profit organization that sees great benefit in advocating for those less fortunate in [its] community, everyone from students in the Bronx and Lower East Side to older adults who want to learn about and benefit from games and technology.” Talking Games With Reggie And Harold is seeking crowdfunding via GoFundMe with a goal of $15,000. It currently sits at $1,465, so there’s plenty of room for people to still contribute.
For those who do opt to help fund the project, here’s what your money will support and what it could bring to you:
In addition, during the time of COVID-19, we are moving our journalism courses online. Once completed, these courses will be available to educators around the country – for free. We will be available to help facilitate these courses – also at no cost.
It’s not just a worthy cause with a podcast the begins in mid-May; donors will get access to extra content from Reggie and our famous guests. Plus, selected donors will be able to ask questions of Reggie. All donors will have first access to purchase some of the Circle’s rare videogame memorabilia. Should we surpass our goals, funds will continue to help the NYVGCC’s mission of educating students with games and journalism in underserved areas.
The first podcast is expect to be released in mid-May. There isn’t an end date listed for the fundraising, but anyone who’s interested should probably act sooner rather than later. It’s truly a worthy cause and hopefully enough people will unite to help the project reach its goal.
