Despite 2021 now being firmly in the dust, Sonic the Hedgehog is showing no signs of slowing down following his 30th anniversary celebrations. Netflix is set to debut a new animated series in conjunction with SEGA dubbed Sonic Prime. The 24-episode show is going to debut later in 2022. Given Sonic’s popularity, it’s a bit of a no-brainer that fans would eventually get some merchandise to enjoy from the new show, and as luck would have we’ve been given official confirmation that this is to be the case. Toy-maker JAKKS Pacific and costume-maker Disguise, Inc. will both be bringing a litany of goods to market to coincide with the launch of Sonic Prime.

JAKKS Pacific, Inc. today announced a partnership with Sega of America, Inc. for the upcoming animated Sonic the Hedgehog series, Sonic Prime, maintaining JAKKS as one of the franchise’s global merchandise partners. Under this partnership, JAKKS will produce action figures, playsets, vehicles, plush and other collectibles associated with the upcoming new show. Additionally, JAKKS also named Disguise, Inc. as its official costume and costume accessory partner with distribution rights across the globe. JAKKS and Disguise will design, manufacture, market and sell Sonic Prime-branded product lines worldwide commencing in 2023. As previously announced, the new Sonic Prime series, produced in partnership with WildBrain, is set to launch worldwide on Netflix in 2022 drawing upon the keystones of the brand and features the “Blue Blur” of video game fame in a high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new metaverse rests in his gloved hands.

Between Sonic Prime and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, as well as upcoming video game Sonic Frontiers, the Blue Blur is going to be keeping many a set of eyeballs glued in his direction for a long while to come, it would seem.
