It’s the end of an era. Pokemon TV will be permanently shutting down on March 28, 2024. The app, which allowed users to view various episodes of the anime and movies of the Pokémon cartoon series, is no longer downloadable. Here’s a bit of the announcement from The Pokémon Company.

Thank you to all our fans who have enjoyed Pokémon TV over the years. The Pokémon TV app and website will sunset and the service will end on March 28, 2024. Beginning on January 8, 2024, fans will no longer be able to download the Pokémon TV app from the App Store, Google Play, Roku Channel Store, Amazon Appstore, Nintendo eShop, and Pokemon.com.

However, those who already had the app downloaded on their devices prior to January 8, 2024, will still be able to watch available content until the app fully sunsets on March 28, 2024.

The announcement goes on to outline a list of resources for continuing to watch Pokémon content online, including Netflix, Hulu, and Roku, as well as digital platforms where video content can be directly purchased versus streamed. Pokémon TV first launched back in 2010 as a website before also offering a dedicated app in 2013. The press release doesn’t offer any reason behind the closure, but regardless, it’s sad to see the free service go. Until the closure, users can continue to watch content via the website and any already-downloaded copy of the app.
