Digging through the code of games is nothing new for video game fans. There are entire websites devoted to doing exactly that, like The Cutting Room Floor, for instance. That said, every once in a while, multiple years after a game comes out, players still manage to dig up something new and interesting. In this case, hackers have managed to find out that Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire once nearly went by totally different monikers.
According to X users farore.gba and wobb, when digging through the Japanese code for the two games, they discovered that the original titles (or possibly just the working titles during development) were Pokémon Crimson and Pokémon Indigo. What’s more, Team Magma and Team Aqua were also going to be called Team Tunnel and Team Marine, respectively. Crimson and Indigo have a pretty good ring to them, but Tunnel and Marine… maybe not so much.
While it’s interesting to see what might have been, Game Freak probably got it right by naming the games Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. But what say you, dear reader? Let us know your thoughts on Crimson, Indigo, Tunnel, and Marine down in the comments!

That honestly sounds like a pretty good name. They could use it for an official release for the next generation, though I doubt it since they probably got a lot more ideas in the tank.
