Halloween, arguably the spookiest of all the holidays, is right around the corner and Pokémon Go is getting into the spirit of the season with a new update featuring lots of new and unique content. From special events to new creatures, there’s quite a bit to keep you walking well past the point you’ve collected every piece of candy in the neighborhood.
The update adds two new, seasonally appropriate, creatures to the game, Yamask and Darkrai. The former will also have shiny versions running about while the latter legendary will only show up in five star raids. Existing creatures will also be getting a makeover in the form of costumes; raids can possibly net you versions of Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander wearing the looks of some spookier Pokémon, while Pikachu can be found in the wild dressed like Mimikyu, a Pokémon already known for dressing like Pikachu… things just got meta. Your trainer can also adopt a new look as well thanks to new additions to the Style Shop.
Other new features include plenty of new Pokémon waiting to be rescued from Team Go Rocket, a higher encounter rate for ghost and dark type creatures, and new research tasks including Special Research that promises the potential to encounter a “Forbidden Pokémon.” Also, you’ll get double Candy for catching, hatching, and transferring, as well.
The update and all of its special events go live October 17.
