The quest for legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go took an interesting twist when one player showed off an Articuno in their collection. People were naturally suspicious about the claims that the legendary ice bird had been given by developer Niantic as an apology for an error in the game.
Niantic has now officially broken its silence with a statement: “We recently noticed that a few Legendary Pokémon got into a few accounts when they shouldn’t have. To preserve the game’s integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokémon from the Trainers’ accounts.”
Furthermore, the developer has stated that the creature was most likely acquired through a glitch or a hack. In other words, we probably won’t be getting any legendaries until Niantic is good and ready for us to get them, and should you acquire one before that time, you’ll end up losing it.
Of course, we can also hope that legendary Pokémon will be added in sooner rather than later… and Ditto, too.
