There are more obvious industries that have experienced setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic raging across the globe—sports, retail stores, and restaurants tend to spring most immediately to mind. There are plenty of other sectors, thought, that are also being hammered by the inability to mingle in large groups, with animation studios being among them. It’s been revealed by Serebii.net that the Pokémon anime has suspended production in Japan due to the coronavirus.
There’s no word on when production will begin again (really, no industry has any clear idea of when it will be resuming business), but in the interim repeats will be aired in Japan for the time being. This news comes via Tokyo TV which put out its weekly schedule and noted that Pokémon will be taking a break. Fret not, dear readers, as Pokémon will be back on track and on TV with new episodes eventually—we’ll be sure to let you all know when that’s the case.
