The upcoming five-part docuseries, Playing with Power: The Nintendo Story, is set to debut on Crackle on March 1.
This series explores the history of Nintendo, whose origins date back to the 19th century, and is written and directed by Jeremy Snead with Sean Astin as executive producer and narrator. Snead has other video game-related projects under his belt, including the documentary Video Games: The Movie and the docuseries Unlocked: The World of Games, Revealed. He connected with Astin due to their mutual love of video games and gaming history and culture, and they have a nine-year history of partnering together to produce content centered on video games.

Astin called the scope of the project an “ambitious goal,” but “little by little, over four years, the series really came together. I think we’ve created a five-episode journey that will open up the world of video games and this legendary company in a way that most people have never seen.” The series includes interviews with gaming industry veterans, including Nintendo of America co-founder Ron Judy, Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell, former Sega of America president and CEO Tom Kalinske, former Nintendo president and COO Reggie Fils-Aimé, and head of Xbox Phil Spencer.
