Remember The Wonderful 101? It was an early Wii U action game developed by Bayonetta masterminds Platinum Games. Like so many titles on Wii U, it was the victim of the platform’s weak showing and ultimately didn’t reach quite as wide of an audience as anyone would have hoped. Over the past couple of years, however, Platinum has been teasing a port of The Wonderful 101 to Nintendo Switch. Well, they’re still teasing it, in case anyone was wondering! Here’s the latest from Atsushi Inaba, the head of Platinum himself:
“The Wonderful 101 is obviously something that we hold near and dear to our hearts. And so we’ve talked to a lot of different people about what it is and what it means. We’ve done a lot of intel gathering and the only thing that I can say right now is that I’m glad we did. I’m glad that we talked to a lot of different people.”
Unfortunately, while there’s clearly interest on Platinum’s part, The Wonderful 101 isn’t an internal property for the studio; the rights belong, instead, to Nintendo. The game also didn’t sell the greatest, pushing a small number of units, back when it launched. However, given how chummy the two companies have become in recent years, with Bayonetta 3 even being developed exclusively for Nintendo Switch, there’s certainly a good chance that The Wonderful 101 could make a return on the hybrid console.
