There’s still more than a month to go before Nintendo releases Switch upon the world, but indie developers are already looking toward the new console as a possible avenue for players to experience their upcoming games. Several indie titles have already announced games and many more have voiced their planned support. Now one more is looking to jump on board, assuming of course its Kickstarter can reach the necessary funds.
Lanze Games has launched a campaign for Pixel Princess Blitz, a game the developer promises will feature a unique fusion of mechanics and genres. Broadly, the game is described as a roguelike RPG, but it appears it will be making more than a few twists on that genre. The game will feature an overworld made of hexagonal tiles that the player explores turn by turn and is populated with randomized encounters, NPCs, events, and story elements. Combat, on the other hand, occurs in real-time and plays more like an action game with several weapon types. The game also stands out with its decidedly anime-inspired visuals that definitely lean more toward the cute side of things.
Pixel Princess Blitz looks like it could provide a very unique experience, though that of course will depend on whether or not the Kickstarter campaign meets its goal. Thankfully, things are looking promising at the moment. At the time of this writing, the game is just shy of half way to its $82,673 goal with 22 days left to go.
