Less than a week since its release, Super Mario Maker has already achieved its first great milestone. Over one million uploads of user-created levels from the game have given Nintendo new reason to celebrate, having just marked the franchise’s 30th anniversary this past weekend.
To mark this occasion, Nintendo has released a video showcasing a selection of user-made levels in all their Mario Maker glory. Check out the video below:
It’s crazy to think that Super Mario Maker was almost never to be, originally penned as a piece of software only to be used internally by Nintendo’s development teams. Thankfully, the company realized the potential in giving the fans the power to make and share their own Mario levels through this software, and so became Super Mario Maker. Today’s announcement is testament to that decision, as fans continue to create and share levels, whilst inspiring others to do the same. I have yet to purchase the game, but given everything I have seen so far, I think a quick visit to the nearest gaming store this weekend is in order!

It was this game and Splatoon at E3 2014 that made me buy a Wii U. This is giving us the keys to the Mushroom Kingdom. We are Mario’s God now.
I just got it from Amazon yesterday, and just literally 20 minutes ago opened it up and am now trying it out. It’s good, trying out some level from a guy in Japan. I can see how if they make more of these types of games, even 3D type ones the possibilities are almost endless. I’d like a Zelda Maker now please. Pronto. So I can make my own Link To The Past.
