Players looking for 8-bit nostalgia and rhythm-based gameplay have plenty of options on eShop, but there aren’t any titles that combine the two on Switch. Old School Musical, however, will do just that when it arrives next month!
The title follows brothers Tib and Rob as they embark on an adventure inspired by classic 8-bit games. Successfully tapping along to the beat will help the pair clear each level. In a way, it seems similar to Tetris DS, with everything taking place on the same screen. The title features more than 50 tracks by a number of famous chiptune artists, including Dubmood, Hello World, Le Plancton, Yponeko and Zabutom. Developer La Moutarde and publisher Playdius have released a new trailer but be warned: the majority of the video centers more around chickens than it does gameplay!
While the trailer doesn’t give players much to go on, those looking for a slightly better idea of what to expect from the game’s soundtrack can head on over to Soundcloud. The developer has uploaded three of the game’s tracks: Village of Refugees, Magical Flute and IsoCity.
Old School Musical launches on Switch September 13. The title will retail for $12.99.
