In this day and age, DLC often feels like a given. Sometimes this can be a good thing, as new content can extend the life of a great game, while other times it feels like you are paying extra to finish what was an otherwise incomplete experience. For those worrying about the latter, Octopath Traveler from Square Enix might look even more appealing now because it simply isn’t bothering with DLC of any kind.

When asked about DLC by Japan’s Dengeki Online, Masashi Takahashi, the games producer, proclaimed, “We are not thinking about that at all. The release version is a finished product.”

The producer also went on to discuss the JRPG’s length. A straightforward play-through of the story will likely land in the 50-60 hour range, while tackling all of the optional material could increase that to 100 hours, depending on the player.

Octopath Traveler comes out on July 13, but gamers can get an early look thanks to a new demo released last week.
