In a surprise move, Square Enix has updated its 2023 RPG Octopath Traveler II to version 1.1.0. The update brings with it a number of tweaks, which we’ll detail below via the patch notes:
Octopath Traveler II has also been updated for all platforms. This includes a new extra battle mode that allows you to take on formidable enemies, including the heroes of the first Octopath Traveler!

Title Screen
- Added new mode: Extra Battles (available after clearing the story).
Miscellaneous
- Edited the credits.
- Edited various graphics.
- Implemented new tutorial text for update additions.
Perhaps of most note here is the addition of Extra Battles, which can be accessed after beating the main game. Upon conclusion, players will be able to re-battle the game’s boss’s, as well as take on characters from the original Octopath Traveler. The update is available now, so anyone who’s interested should boot up the game and give it a whirl.
