The success of Octopath Traveler has encouraged Square Enix to keep the hype behind the game alive. Exactly how successful has the game been? According to Square Enix, it’s sold 1.5 million copies.
The company has announced that they’re bringing the Octopath Traveler series to mobile in Japan with a new title that’s intended to be a prequel to the Switch game and will launch for iOS and Android sometime in 2019.
They also tweeted that the mobile game is meant to tide over players waiting for the next console title, saying, “For those of you waiting for a new console game, we apologize, but we’ll need more time for production, so in the meantime we hope you’ll enjoy this.”
