While major publishers have been quiet since Nintendo’s big Switch preview with regard to more games being planned for the system, indie developers have steadily been adding to that list of confirmed titles. Now, Oceanhorn is the latest game to be verified for Switch.
While the publisher couldn’t commit to a date more specific than “later this year,” it did confirm its plan to release the title on Switch via a tweet. Oceanhorn was originally released for mobile devices before being ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One earlier this year. The game does little to hide the inspiration it takes from Zelda; it features sailing mechanics reminiscent of Wind Waker, while the land-based gameplay is more similar to the series’ earliest days on NES, SNES and Game Boy.

Given the fact Switch is launching with Breath of the Wild, it’s probably safe to assume the system will attract more than a few Zelda fans who might be interested in Oceanhorn as another way of scratching that action-adventure itch. It’s also worth noting that an Oceanhorn 2 is in development, though so far it has only been confirmed for mobile platforms.
