Many gamers were no doubt excited to learn a Pokémon game would be coming to Nintendo’s next console, the mysterious NX. However, Pokémon Company CEO, Tsunekazu Ishihara, has also made a statement lending credence to the theory creating the most buzz in the industry’s rumor mill right now.
In a Wall Street Journal interview, he said, ““The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device.”
Nintendo has long stood upon two separate pillars; its home consoles are one and its handhelds the other. While official details on NX are effectively limited to the fact it will come out in March of 2017 right now, all the recent rumors suggest it will combine these two aspects of Nintendo’s business by being a portable system that can then be plugged into a unit hooked up to a TV for a traditional home console experience as well. While Ishihara doesn’t state this specifically, it definitely does seem to suggest that these rumors might at least be heading in the right direction.
That stated March release date grows closer by the day, so hopefully Nintendo will be making an official announcement sooner, rather than later.
