It’s a light week for the eShops, but the big guns hitting Switch should be more than enough to make up for this week’s abbreviated offerings. Read on for the games that should be drawing your attention!
Switch eShop
Splatoon 2 – $59.99—This is the premier game to get ahold of for Switch owners until Super Mario Odyssey drops in Autumn. Splatoon 2 is everything fans loved about the Wii U original and more. New multiplayer modes, a more robust single player campaign, new weapons and clothes, and other features besides await players. Be sure to pickup the accompanying Splatoon Amiibo that will be available, as well.
Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star – $59.99 (Available July 25)—Fans of hack and slash series like Dynasty or Hyrule Warriors will want to have Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star on their radars. It was a great deal of fun to play at E3 this past year, with waves of enemies to slaughter in a variety of creative ways. There’s a flurry of formerly-DLC costumes that come in-box, as well as an exclusive “Unshackled Bride” outfit.
ACA NeoGeo Samurai Shodown – $7.99—A fighter? An actual NeoGeo fighter on Switch?! Believe it or not, there remain yet more one-on-one fighting games still waiting in the wings to join the ACA lineup, but Samurai Shodown shan’t be ignored in the meantime. It has an old school feel that will be good fun to fans of Street Fighter II and some of the other fighters that have been released on Switch so far.
Boost Beast – $9.99—This is an interesting looking one. In Boost Beast, match-3 puzzle mechanics are joined with beat ’em up hi jinx. Create combos, avoid cages, and lead an animal army to victory against a horde of zombies. Whew! That… is a wild sounding game!
3DS eShop
Mononoke Forest – $3.99—A simulation game starring its titular Mononoke, players build up a village utilizing the powers of these mysterious creatures. Build teams of Mononoke to tackle specific challenges, then fling them to the upper screen in order to unleash their abilities.

ACA Super Sidekicks—For those wanting a little diversity from Hamster’s ACA line of NeoGeo games, delight in Super Sidekicks landing next Thursday on Switch. It’s an arcade soccer (football for our Euro chums) title that employs some excellent pick-up-and-play controls and big, colorful sprite art that’s peppered in during gameplay. A very cool gem that sports fans should give some thought to downloading.
