Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct brought with it a wave of new information, as well as a couple of games for fans to sink their teeth into this week. Along with the titles that dropped yesterday, we’ve got the skinny on the rest of this week’s downloadable offerings from Nintendo, so get reading and find out what’s worthy of a purchase!
Switch Download
Mr. Shifty—$14.99—A top-down brawler featuring the titular Mr. Shifty as he phases through walls, enemies, and hazards, all while kicking massive amounts of backside. The cel-shaded art style looks great, to boot.
ACA NeoGeo Samurai Shodown IV—$7.99—Another SNK Playmore gem has found its way to Switch in the form of Samurai Shodown IV. Replete with special features and other goodies to spruce up the already classic fighting game mechanics, this is a must-have for retro gaming enthusiasts and fans of the genre.
Puyo Puyo Tetris Demo—Free—We’d like to draw your attention to this one as, for many gamers, Puyo Puyo is still an unknown commodity in the world of puzzle video games. Merged with Tetris, this new entry looks gorgeous and fun, so give it a whirl without dropping a dime by downloading this demo for your Switch. It even teaches you how to play it!
3DS Download
Bye-Bye BoxBoy!—$4.99—The BoxBoy series is awesome and if you haven’t been playing it, shame on you. As Qbby, players tackle 2D platforming/puzzle gameplay across a variety of stages. Amiibo functionality this time around allows players to spruce Qbby up with new costumes and a great Game Boy screen filter option is available to those with previous BoxBoy game saves on their 3DS! There’s a free demo of all three available as of yesterday if you need an intro before diving in. A pleasant treat from yesterday’s Direct broadcast.
Team Kirby Clash Deluxe—Free to Start—Another lovely surprise from yesterday’s Direct, this enhanced version of Team Kirby Clash from Kirby Planet Robobot is a free-to-start brawler. Kirby takes on enhanced baddies with up to three other Kirby partners in tow. Earn currency in-game to buy new gear, or go buy some with real world cash. The original was good fun, so hopes are high for this new version.
That’s all for this week! What do you plan on downloading?

Got the Puyo Puyo Tetris demo, and this may be the first time I don’t buy a game I was originally going to because of playing the demo. The AI is just absolutely savage, to the point where it’s actually not fun for me. I still had a blast playing locally against another person, so it does have that going for it, but against the CPU it was almost not even worth playing.
Also doesn’t help that there’s no explanation at all of how the handicap system works.
