I have fond memories of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance as a kid. My dad actually found a copy of the game in a parking lot and brought it home for me not knowing whether or not I had the system it belonged to. The cartridge had been run over by a car at least once and was a bit disfigured, but with a bit of maneuvering I was able to fit it in my GBA.

I remember loving it right from the snowball fight tutorial. Storylines in games usually aren’t super important to me, but the story in this game was gripping and did a great job with the fantasy vs reality theme. Shortly after I completed the main game, my copy stopped working permanently.

Anyway, I definitely recommend the game to all! Been loving the cooperation between Square Enix and Nintendo recently. Hopefully North America eshop gets Mario RPG soon, because I’m dying for a replay.

I own this game but have never played it.

It came as part of a set with a Pearl White GBA SP that could only be purchased via pre-order at select Japanese 7-11 stores. I know that sounds strange to us Westerners, but 7-11s in Japan are truly amazing (I even used to pay my utility bills there.) This set also came with an exclusive poster among other items (wrist strap, pouch) and I saved some of the 7-11 pamphlets that advertised the deal.

I was disappointed that the actual GBA SP had no distinguishing features (other than the exclusive color) but the entire package/artwork were top-notch. The box and artwork are gorgeous. It still sits sealed on my handhelds shelf in my gameroom.

I never attempted to play it because text-heavy games in Japanese were/are a challenge for me. I think I will download it now.

I too hope Square-Enix keeps the virtual console goodness coming.
